From August 5th to 7th, 2025, the highly anticipated Brazil São Paulo Textile, Fabric & Garment Exhibition grandly kicked off at the São Paulo Anhembi Convention Center. As one of the most influential textile industry events in Latin America, this edition of the exhibition gathered over 200 high-quality enterprises from China and various Latin American countries. The venue was bustling with people, and the atmosphere for trade negotiations was enthusiastic, serving as an important bridge connecting the global textile industry chain.
Among them, the performance of Chinese participating enterprises was particularly eye-catching. Attaching great importance to the Brazilian and Latin American markets, Chinese manufacturers made careful preparations. They not only brought a diverse range of fabric products covering cotton, linen, silk, chemical fibers, etc., but also focused on the two core trends of “intelligent manufacturing” and “green sustainability”, showcasing a batch of innovative achievements that combine technological content and environmental protection concepts. For instance, some enterprises exhibited recycled fiber fabrics, which are made from recycled plastic bottles and waste textiles. After being processed by advanced technologies, these fabrics not only retain excellent touch and durability but also significantly reduce carbon emissions during production, perfectly meeting the growing demand for environmentally friendly products in the Brazilian market. Additionally, functional fabrics created through intelligent production systems, such as outdoor-specific fabrics with moisture-wicking, UV-resistant, and antibacterial properties, also attracted a large number of South American clothing brand merchants with their precise market positioning.
The “going global” of Chinese textile enterprises is no accident but is based on the solid foundation and positive momentum of China-Brazil textile trade. Data shows that in 2024, China’s export of textiles and clothing to Brazil reached 4.79 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%. This growth momentum not only reflects the recognition of Chinese textile products in the Brazilian market but also indicates the complementarity between the two countries in the textile field. China, with its complete industrial chain, efficient production capacity, and rich product matrix, can meet Brazil’s diversified needs from mass consumption to high-end customization. Meanwhile, Brazil, as a populous country and economic core in Latin America, its continuously growing clothing consumption market and textile processing demand also provide a broad incremental space for Chinese enterprises.
The holding of this exhibition undoubtedly injected new impetus into Chinese textile enterprises to further explore the Brazilian market. For the participating Chinese manufacturers, it is not only a stage to display their product strength but also an opportunity to conduct in-depth exchanges with local purchasers, brand owners, and industry associations. Through face-to-face communication, enterprises can more intuitively understand the popular trends, policies and regulations (such as local environmental protection standards and tariff policies) in the Brazilian market, as well as the personalized needs of customers, providing precise guidance for subsequent product customization and market layout. Moreover, the exhibition has built a bridge for long-term cooperation between Chinese and Brazilian enterprises. Many Chinese manufacturers reached preliminary cooperation intentions with Brazilian clothing brands and traders on-site, involving multiple fields such as fabric supply and joint research and development, which is expected to promote bilateral textile trade to achieve greater breakthroughs on the existing basis.
From a more macro perspective, the deepening of China-Brazil textile trade is also a vivid practice of “South-South Cooperation” in the industrial field. With the continuous upgrading of China’s textile industry in green manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, and the continuous expansion of consumer markets in Brazil and other Latin American countries, there is huge potential for cooperation between the two sides in the upstream and downstream of the textile industry chain. China can export high-value-added fabrics and advanced production technologies to Brazil, while Brazil’s cotton and other raw material resources and local processing capabilities can complement the Chinese market, ultimately achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.
It can be predicted that this São Paulo Textile, Fabric & Garment Exhibition is not only a short-term industry gathering but will also become a “catalyst” for the continuous warming of China-Brazil textile trade, promoting the cooperation between the two countries in the textile field to develop in a broader and deeper direction.
